I am both teacher and leaner in India. Any good sociologist should know that cuisine is the basis of substance and social solidarity within a culture. Therefore I took an Indian cooking class to learn the basics. To be honest, I took it for the love of Indian food and was probably the most fun college class I have ever seen.
We are already in advanced training |
Preparing the meat, somehow designated "man's work" |
Stoves are like much of India, confusing... what is off and what is on? |
Fresh chicken |
I got stuck on potato duty, clearly I'm being stereotyped as an Idahoan |
Chopping vegetables |
Jacob gives his famous "On the Spot Guidance," kinda like Kim Jong Il |
My potatoes somehow became a delicious massala, spiced perfect |
The bread |
We each took turns learning to fry, like Americans, Indians love fried stuff. |
